Hybrid Digital Events
We Are Live has been producing hybrid events for over 12 years. Our first assignment was in 2009 for the first TEDx event in the Netherlands (TEDxAmsterdam). The production, which then already went hand in hand with the use of social media, was a textbook example of the use of a livestream at a live event. For TED.com, we were the reference production the rest of the world looked to. We know since the beginning of 2020 that we were already working on hybrid events, back then. When the concept itself only emerged during the Corona outbreak
We Are Live therefore has a great deal of experience in translating live events into an event experience for participants and viewers at home. From a production point of view, finding the balance between the experience of physical visitors and that of digital visitors is always a challenge. There are a few techniques that we use to maximize the involvement of both target groups in the program. The use of which depend on the ratio of the live and online participants.
