For more than 7 decades, the Prins Bernard Cultuurfonds has been honoring committed volunteers with the granting of the Zilveren Anjers. On Friday the 4th of June, that honor fell to Barend van Benthem, Janine and Joop van den Ende and Johan Veenstra. They received a Zilveren Anjer from the hands of Princess Beatrix. Last year’s laureates Kees Bos, Els Blokker-Verwer and Albert Haar, received their award during this ceremony as well.

In the run-up to the event, client IINII asked us to think along about the ceremony. Because the ceremony from last year was canceled due to the corona measures, we looked at how we could convert a physical event into a hybrid event. In addition, we took care of the set-up, scripting, direction and all the technology involved in such a production. All in close collaboration with IINII, the Prince Bernhard Cultuurfonds, the Government Information Service and the Royal Household.

In the end, a beautiful ceremony was set up, from one of the Netherlands’ most impressive locations: the Royal Palace of Amsterdam. Due to the great historical value of the palace, we had to be extremely careful. With various speakers, musical performances by Ellen ten Damme and the ensemble ZOEF and a strong team, the award ceremony has been given the grandeur that the Zilveren Anjer deserves. Even despite the coronaproof setting.
